"Bringing Them the Christmas Spirit"

Dear Sexy Pumpkins...

We are coming to you today to let you know about our “Christmas Spirit 2009” Toys drive and Fundraiser to benefit the “AFRAD-OMC Orphanage” located in New Bell, Douala, Cameroon.

“The Nakande’s Project" was founded by a team of two young Cameroonian women with the fire and passion to give back to our communities by helping the less fortunate.”

New Bell is one of poorest town in Douala Cameroon with a growing number of youth homelessness. We have located an orphanage in which 237 orphans from the ages of 7 months to 23 years old found refuge. Among the orphans, there were 3 babies but 1 passed away a few weeks ago due to lack of medical attention.

The orphanage is barely able to sustain itself and remain open to accommodate the basic needs of those orphans. All of their resources go into the bills to maintain the Orphanage in stable condition. So therefore they have never been able to provide those kids with a chance to Celebrate Christmas. We believe that every child deserves the gift of Celebrating Christmas. By creating “The Christmas Spirit 2009” this year, we plan to surprise those children with a Christmas tree, Presents and a Small Gathering that will stay with them forever.
Our goal is to raise toys and money in order for us to buy Presents, Books, Educational games, and to provide them with a nice meal and decorations on Christmas Day.

We come to you to ask for your kind donations of $1, $2, $10, $25 or more, or toys, clothing and shoes in good condition by December 8th to help us put a smile on those children faces because we know every child is special.

After the event, pictures and videos will be provided on our up-coming website (www.thenakandesproject.com) where you will be able to view the impact of your contributions in the life of those kids. On there you will also be able to follow their evolution throughout the year until next Christmas.

Thank you for supporting our Project and Merry Christmas.

For Donations please email us at thenakandesproject@gmail.com...

FATALLY BLACK

Ok so as you know NY Fashion week is going on right now and yesterday was one of the most anticipated event "Vogue Fashion's Night Out in NYC" all over town. Now Pictures are coming soon but I wanted to share something fabulous I found with all my SEXY PUMPKINS out there. After Dex studios I decided to stop by Macy's in the city to go to the M.A.C store because I needed a mascara and pink lip gloss. When I got there I saw one of the make-up artist with purple-blackish lipstick...  I went coo coo, I absolutely wanted to try it and when I saw the result on my lips I just fell in love with it. I was like a whole new person, or maybe I'd just found what was missing in me in all that Black Madness! Anyways all I know is that this thing is FIERCE...
Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think!

A video Tutorial on what exact products I used and how to apply them will be coming in the next few hours stay tuned.

Kicking off NY's Fashion Week...

So I've never really been a Fashionista... not that I consider myself a Fashionista now, but I've always in a way liked fashion. I was always doing my own thing not really following any guidelines but managed to look decent when out and about. I have to tell you living in NYC for a year gave me a whole new outlook on the matter. That is why this year I've decided to
follow NY's Fashion week and get involved. Even though I still won't exactly follow the trends, I'm sure I can use one thing or two to enhance my personal style... Look forward to pictures, thoughts and behind the scene videos of what I see, hear or think about NY's Fall Fashion Week 09! Here is a shot of Fashion week kick off on the way to Gold Bar with good friend and Designer Loza Maleombho.

GOD IS GOOD, GOD IS LOVE... HAPPY SUNDAY!

Hi beautiful people...
I just want to take the time to tell you to acknowledge that GOD is good.
I had my down times where I doubted him, but HE never let me completely forget about him. HE was incapable of letting me down even when I distanced myself the most from HIM and if I'm here today it's all because of HIM! So please take the time to let him know that you LOVE HIM even if HE knows already he will keep on loving you even more...
I love you all and I thank you for believing in me....
HAPPY SUNDAY YA'LL!

Coup de Coeur!

So lately I've been jammin' to Dj Just Dizle Le Champion (Paris, France) "90's R'n'B Classics pt.3" if you haven't subscribed to his podcast on Itunes then I recommend you do so it's amazing! You can check him out:

WHAT IS AN AFRICAN THING???

Okay guys so I never wrote a note before but I'm sick and tired (that's right I'm PISSED) of some Africans not getting what young people like me are trying to do here in the U.S!

Here is an email that I've received 3 days ago it took me that long to give this person a reply because I just didn't get what that was about.
Right under that email is my reply let me know what you think!

Please discard the first line as I am and I repeat I am no one's WIFE so do not call me your WIFE! Thank you

Sent from Unknown Sender:

On dit koi ma femme Sophie,
comment tu vas? ca fait un bail. How's the business doin'? I see you doin' your african thing and all that what's up with it? Actually I like what they do (dj arafat, Fally, Toro) but the problem is they don't have the right person around you know... Anyway I'm sure you get what I mean and I also thing you can make it happen for them if you want to. Beh laisse moi savoir coe tu vas ttyl bisous...

Reply from Sophy Aiida:

I am nobodies WIFE....

Cela dit,

Business is going very well I'm hustling everyday.
I'm not doing my African thing no. What is an AFRICAN THING???? I have dreams for Africa, Cameroon in particular and so I am working hard to put us on the map.

By working hard I mean hosting relevant African inspired shows... acting in African oriented movies but as well as acting in American films or Presenting American Shows to gain that notoriety among the most powerful in that area of business around the world... So I don't do my AFRICAN THING.

I don't hang with Dj Arafat nor Fally I don't even know who TORO is... I've never worked with them before and don't think I ever will or at least not in the U.S because my target is struggling young African talents based in the HERE not them... so it would be very hard for me to know what their problem is.

I'm not a promoter nor an artist manager and sure I want to push other African talents like me HERE to get recognition and support from their own, but it's so that they can make it HERE and take their knowledge back to their respective countries and develop an industry for it there.

I am an actress and an entertainment host. I write movies and television scripts and I direct music videos, films and theater plays, I AM AN ENTERTAINER....
I think you've got it all wrong about me...

Other then that I hope all is well with you.

Take Care

I would like to add that to all of ya'll that don't know me or that are just my friends on facebook... THIS is what I stand for, THIS is why I'm doing what I'm doing.

Smile Life is Beautiful

I'm back!

Okay so I spent about two weeks no news but I'm back on my grind now... I spent the past few weeks with friends that came to visit me in NY and through them I met amazing new people... Check out some of the pics!

The King of Pop!

Before I write anything about myself I will like to take a moment to reflect on a man by the name of MICHEAL JACKSON. I have to be honest, I'm still sad. I've tried to brush it off but for some reason when it crosses my head I still can't accept it. When I was younger and I used to watch Micheal's videos, I used to be so inspired I wanted to do it all dance, sing but most of all perform. Growing up and understanding his struggle and seeing all he'd been through but kept his head up no matter what made me believe in my dream and keep on pushing hard. To this day every time I feel overwhelmed by this Industry I think about what those over-criticized, over-judged, ultra-analyzed people have been through and continue to look up! I will miss you dearly Micheal even if I didn't know you personally may your soul Rest in Peace.
